Cool shade
The oak wood stretches over about 1/2 hectare behind Villa Handrès. Our visitors appreciate it especially in summer for its shade and natural coolness. Although we regularly clear the undergrowth, we’ve chosen to leave it a little “natural”, which is particularly pleasant.
That’s one of the great things about Villa Handrès. Relaxing here for an hour or two, for example, with a deckchair and a book… It’s simply enchanting.
Oaks, shadow and light…
On the vast grounds of Villa Handrès, the wood is obviously the one with the most shade. This is particularly pleasant in summer. In fact, under the Provencal sun, it’s not uncommon for temperatures to flirt with the 35-degree mark.
Its large oak trees form a rather unspoilt space where you can escape the heat. There’s nothing like relaxing with a good book. Or even a little nap.
On the north side of the Villa, just at the edge of the wood, you’ll find an area between sun and shade that’s perfect for a game of pétanque before an aperitif…
Autumn, winter, spring, summer…
In autumn, the russet colors are enchanting. The oak leaves gently spread across the ground to form a soft carpet. In winter, the wood quietly sleeps until the warm weather returns.
In spring, the trees take on a thousand shades of yellow, green, brown and red. And birdsong accompanies nature as it is reborn with gentle melodies at dawn.
In summer, take the time to stroll among the trees just before sunrise. Birds and insects are king. And the coolness of the night has not yet disappeared. A joy to behold…
