THE FIELD

Sun, blue skies, nature and relaxation...

The 1/2-hectare field in front of Villa Handrès is a favorite spot for our visitors.
Facing due south, the sun and its light illuminate it all year round.
In the distance, the Sainte Baume massif majestically dominates the horizon.
Rough stone walls line all sides of the massif, and the tall trees that line it seem to soar up to caress the blue Provencal sky.

With a large swimming pool and trees providing much appreciated shade in summer, the field is truly the main living space of Villa Handrès.

We tell you more

To the right of the field, the swimming pool.
Indispensable, especially in high summer!
The rosebushes lining the left-hand side of the pool are an enchantment of color in spring.
The large trees on the right provide delicious shade for lunch, rest or a good book.

In the middle, two olive trees and a Judas tree.
In the background, three cherry trees, a quince tree and, more recently, some vines that are just waiting to grow…

No grass in the field, but real country grass!
In winter, it’s not unusual for it to be covered in a coat of frost.
In spring, it starts to grow again, becoming magnificently tall, green and dotted here and there with multicolored flowers.
The field is mowed in late spring.
By the end of June, as summer sets in, the grass dries out and turns straw-yellow.
To the left of the Villa, a large, magnificent cedar whose branches form a protective canopy close to the ground, under which you can take shelter from the sun in summer, at aperitif time for example.
Further to the left, wild thyme, rosemary and lavender perfume the air with the scents of Provence.
